It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and long-time employee, Mike Arends, who passed away peacefully in his home this week.
Mike joined Universal Pest Control in the early 1980s after working for Terminix. His customers, many of whom knew Mike for thirty years or more, will remember his sharp intellect, quick wit, and — for only his very special customers: magic. Mike was a gifted magician who would spend hours perfecting his tricks before practicing them on the staff. Once mastered, they were ready for his favorite customers.
Mike’s customers, or rather their dogs, will also remember him for his ready supply of dog treats. Technicians filling in when Mike was on vacation all guiltily recall the forlorn doggie faces that so looked forward to seeing Mike, only to be disappointed when the “new guy” had no treats!
Although Mike’s health forced his retirement more than a year ago, he has been missed in our office every day. We do not know what arrangements his family may make concerning a service. If any, we will post the information here. Thank you for your thoughts.
